Sustainable Access and Consumption of Safe and Healthy Diets

Ensuring Every Ugandan Can Eat Well

At Food Rights Alliance (FRA), we believe that access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food is a fundamental human right. Sustainable diets are not only essential for health but also for the resilience and sustainability of food systems.

Focus: Ensuring that food-insecure producers and consumers can access sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs.

Key Objectives:

  • Capacity building for safe food: Enhance the capacity of stakeholders to produce, handle, and consume safe and healthy food.
  • Nourishing Communities: Build a community of producers and consumers who prioritize healthy diets.
  • Sustainable Food Chains: Promote nutritious and healthy food value chains.
  • Nutritional Literacy: Improve access to information on food safety and nutrition.

Focus Areas:

  • Urban food systems: Connecting production, processing, and distribution networks to feed city populations sustainably.
  • Maternal and child nutrition: Supporting pregnant women and children’s nutritional needs for a healthy start in life.
  • Food safety: Protecting food from contamination, preventing illness, and ensuring consumer well-being from farm to fork.
  • Refugees and host communities: Building mutual resilience and coexistence benefits both refugees and the host communities
