The Food Rights Alliance (FRA) is a leading civil society organization in Uganda dedicated to advancing the right to adequate food, strengthening food systems governance, and empowering communities through evidence-based advocacy. As part of its commitment to continuous learning and organizational excellence, FRA will host the 2025 Annual Program Review to reflect on program performance, enhance planning for 2026, and strengthen internal governance systems.
In line with this objective, FRA seeks qualified experts to deliver a two-day AI Orientation Training aimed at equipping staff with foundational knowledge and practical skills to apply artificial intelligence in program management, MEAL functions, and strategic decision-making.
OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Specifically, this assignment will require the facilitator;
- Introduce participants to key concepts of Artificial Intelligence, including generative AI, automation, and responsible AI use.
- Demonstrate practical AI applications relevant to FRA’s work in program management, advocacy, MEAL, documentation, strategic planning, and organizational productivity.
- Provide hands-on learning sessions enabling participants to practice AI tools for drafting, data analysis, scenario planning, reporting, and content generation.
- Facilitate discussions on ethical considerations, data privacy, opportunities, and risks associated with the use of AI in civil society.
- Document insights to guide continuous AI use within FRA.
The facilitator may guide the training using, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
- Overview of AI: definitions, trends, and relevance to the development sector.
- AI tools for improving program implementation, reporting, data literacy, and MEAL.
- AI in governance: supporting evidence-based decision-making and strategic foresight.
- AI for advocacy and communication: messaging, stakeholder mapping, and content generation.
- Risks, ethics, and responsible AI use in civil society organizations.
- Opportunities for integrating AI into FRA’s existing systems and workflows.
- Practical, hands-on exercises relevant to FRA’s thematic work.
NB; The consultant may propose additional topics or adapt the content to better align with FRA’s strategic needs.
Role and responsibilities of lead consultant
- Prepare an inception report outlining methodology, tools, training structure, and materials.
- Develop appropriate tools, exercises, and demonstrations to maximize participant engagement.
- Facilitate a two-day AI orientation during the Annual Program Review (14th–19th December 2025).
- Prepare training presentations, handouts, case studies, and practical exercises.
- Produce a resource toolkit summarizing AI tools, workflows, and practical guides for FRA staff and Board.
- Submit a training report documenting key insights, participant feedback, and recommended next steps for institutional AI adoption.
Duration
The assignment will be for a maximum period of 5 working days.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience for a Lead Consultant
A suitable consultant shall have the following qualifications;
- A Master’s degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Digital Transformation, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in AI facilitation, digital literacy, digital transformation, or capacity development.
- Demonstrated experience in training NGOs/CSOs in digital tools, data use, or technology adoption.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and documentation skills, with evidence of similar assignments.
- Familiarity with MEAL systems, advocacy, and development-sector programming is an added advantage.
- Experience in working with NGOs and CSOs is an advantage.
