ABOUT US

How it all started

Food Rights Alliance is coalition constituted in 1999 to bring together Civil Social Organisations working in the field of sustainable agriculture and food security in Uganda.

Our plan

In the next five years, Food Rights Alliance is working towards building a strong alliance that effectively engages membership and stakeholders to influence policy, systems and practices that affect the realization of the right to adequate food.

Our operations

Member organizations based on their missions, competencies and strategic positioning, self-select into these Thematic Groups that meet regularly to plan and coordinate all three objectives of the Alliance.

Meet our president and Executive Director Agnes

Agnes Kirabo is the Executive Director of FRA. She oversees the operations of the Alliance at a strategic level giving direction to the Secretariat and the entire membership. Agnes works to advance policy, legal and practice reforms in Agriculture and Food Governance that promote and protect people’s Right to Adequate Food and that uphold people’s dignity.

Meet our board of directors

Our Board of Directors brings a wide range of NGO, business, and commercial skills to FRA Secretariat. Their main role is to provide governance to ensure that we are focused to our mission and objectives, the Board oversees the strategic direction of the organisation with a focus on all governance issues and associated activities.

Food Rights Alliance secretariat staff members bring a wide range of experience and deep knowledge of economic and political development, social movements and popular campaigns, and organizational growth and management to the alliance.
