About the SUN Civil Society Network (SUNCSN) Uganda

The SUN CSN was established to support the formation and evolution of Civil Society Alliances in SUN countries, as well as facilitate communication and coordination across SUN CSAs, and with the broader SUN Movement. The primary purpose of the Network is to encourage the alignment of Civil Society Organizations’ (CSO) strategies, programmes, and resources with country plans for scaling up nutrition. The CSN seeks to achieve this through strengthening the support available for and capacity of national Civil Society Alliances (CSA). It is responsible for encouraging effective engagement from civil society in the SUN process at national and global levels and supports CSAs in SUN countries to advocate for the development of ambitious plans. It also contributes to the implementation, and rolling out of national costed plans and monitoring the delivery of those plans.

At this inception phase, efforts are rendered to institutionalize the Network and develop a Strategy as required by the SUN movement guideline. This will give the network legitimacy to engage in formal and informal processes on scaling up nutrition. The institutionalization shall further mitigate the network from previous experiences where the network was broken down as the leadership disintegrated for various reasons.
